Just Fantastic...WOW!
This is stunning. Love the blue.
Adebanji thanks! ( and good luck: I voted for you...)
Vesna and Sophie: Thank you so much !
Marina, Your drawings and paintings consistently touch a chord with me. You have a wonderful talent for creating something transcendent from very simple compositions. This present portrait is not exception. There are 2 subjects here, the appealing innocence of the sitter and the colors. Incredible energy from a very limited palette and that back-lighting and the fabric pattern really make the image vibrate. Also appreciate the brushwork close-up which helps in understanding the illusion of form you have created. Your pieces work on so many levels.
Thanks Candace ! In this one, I really feel I reached a level of paint quality I had never reach before. Last fall, I studied at Studio Escalier with Tim Stotz and Michelle Tully and I needed few months after to assimilate what I was taught. This painting is the first one I'm really happy with. I'm not working with a limited palette ( in the sens we generally understand it ) I have 22 or 23 colors on my palette... I'm glad that you think the image vibrates, that was my goal: to make a vibrant portrait full of life ( in opposition with a cold academic approach)
Hi Marina,
These really are lovely. I particularly like the touch of cool light you have coming from the back of the figures. Do you have a small spotlight with a blue gel for that? Sounds like you've been busy!
